Join us for a full day of Collegiate Shag and Balboa! Starting with the Collegiate Shag Workshop with Chanzie Roettig Gomez and Steve Sayer, 10am-4pm at Tango By The River, Old Sacramento (Social Dance included with registration). Then, a Balboa Mini-Workshop with Jeff and Mimi Liu-Leyco, 6:30-8:00pm at the CLARA in Sacramento (Social Dance included with registration). Followed by a ShagBoa DJ Social Dance Party with DJ Gary Sharpe, 8pm-11pm at the Auditorium at the CLARA.

Collegiate Shag Workshop Topics:

1. Slows and Quicks. Technique drills for leading/following in closed, open, and side-by-side position.

2. Easy combo and Collazo Combo. Two combos of basic moves that utilize catches away on 2 and 4 to create a smooth redirection of movement forward. Vomit Comet - Elbow Grab, if we have time

3. Camel Hops and Crossovers (2 of Chanzie & Steve’s favorite moves for collegiate shag!). We will work on doing them in closed, side-by-side, and open position.

4. Tandem and Collegiate Kicks. Getting into and out of tandem shag with different exits. Also working on different positions and ways of doing Collegiate kicks, including in tandem position.
